Thinking about moving to Pasco County? You're not alone. Nestled along Florida's Gulf Coast just north of Tampa, Pasco County has become one of the fastest-growing regions in the state — and for good reason. 5. Florida Homestead Exemption

Here's a big one for new homeowners. Florida's Homestead Exemption can save you $500 to $1,250 or more every year on your property taxes by reducing your home's assessed value. But you have to apply — and the deadline is March 1 each year.

  • Vehicle registration — Transfer your out-of-state plates within 30 days.

How far is Pasco County from Tampa?
It depends on where in Pasco you settle. Hudson is about 50 minutes northwest of downtown Tampa. Wesley Chapel and Land O'Lakes are closer — about 25 to 35 minutes from Tampa International Airport and the city center.

Are the schools in Pasco County good?
Pasco County Schools is one of the largest and most respected districts in Florida. Communities like Trinity and Wesley Chapel are especially popular with families because of their highly rated schools and family-friendly neighborhoods.

Is it expensive to live in Pasco County?
Not compared to the rest of the Tampa Bay area. The cost of living is lower than the national average, and housing is the biggest reason. You get more square footage, more land, and more house for your money than in Hillsborough or Pinellas counties.
